How does BerkshireAds.com work?
1. Set up an account, now we know that sounds like a pain but the form is really easy (only 9 fields) and we just need to set up how other members are going to contact you. It takes less than 1 minute Sign up here
2. Validate your account, you only have to do this once and you will never have to do this again. Check your email, we sent you a validation number. It's fast, so if you don't get a validation number right away then there is a problem. We find out that most people post their email address wrong when signing up, so make sure you put the correct address in so we can send you this number. If that is the case email us stating you did not get your validation number, send us your login name so we can find you.
3. Have fun posting ads and sending messages to sellers. Now that you are a member you can login, if your not already logged in, and get ready to post an ad or send messages to other sellers. (You do that by clicking on the yellow envelope at the bottom of every ad.)
Posting an ad It's real easy. Just fill out the Title, Price, Description, select an ad duration (the longer the better, unless it time sensitive like race tickets), pick a category or two you would like to post the ad in (each category you pick is an ad on your account), and post a photo if you have one.
Only 30 minutes when posting an ad. You have to be a little quick when posting an ad, you only have 30 minutes from the time you get to the Post Ad page to actually hit Create My Classified Ad button. One of the security features on the site, seeing how your account information is live when you login, is to limit the time you can be idol on a page. Once 30 minutes are up with no activity the site thinks you have gone away and logs you off. Even if you are typing the ad.
Made a mistake or ad did not show up right away. If you make a mistake you can always go back an edit your ad under the My Ads link. There you will see all your ads, under each ad there is a button marked Edit. When you click in there you can change the title, price, add more description, even upload a photo or change an existing one.
Got a stubborn photo that wont get on the ad. Many people sometimes have problems with getting that photo on the ad. In most cases we find that the photo is not in JPG, GIF, and PNG extensions, that is all the site will take. Depending on the size of your photo and the speed of your Internet connection, it may take a minute or two to upload your image. If you have a real big file and your connection times-out before the image gets there, you wont see it on the ad. You need to resample the image down to get it on the site. If all else fails email us and we can help you out.
What's an upgrade? To make your ad stand out from the rest, we give you three optional upgrades to the site. A Featured, Premiere and Gallery.
A Featured upgrade will post your ad and photo on the front page of the site in rotation with the other ads and be placed on the category page with a photo right up front.
A Premiere upgrade will, post your ad on the front page of the site in text form only, your ad will also be placed in the premiere section of the site and allow your ad to be highlighted in yellow to stand out from others.
A Gallery upgrade will allow you to post up to 10 more photos to your ad, letting people see what your item is all about. This will help you eliminate people who keep asking you for more photos.
Help us help you. If you feel an ad on the site in inappropriate, email us with the ad number and we will look into it. Also by reporting a user that you feel is not playing by the rules report that to us as well. If someone is trying to buy your item by sending you more money that you are asking for, we feel that this kind of individual is trying to take your money, please report it. No one likes to look through bogus ads or lose money to dishonest people, so help us police the site and get rid of these individuals. Together we can make a difference.
